New HTC EVO 4G Units Get New But Inferior Screens

New screens reportedly built by Epson will be the new displays used for HTC EVO 4G units coded “003“. The new screens can easily be identified but reportedly have inferior contrast ratios showing less color-rich screens despite increased brightness.
The EVO 4G features a TFT display as an OLED display cannot be included in the device due to its 4.3″ screen. Users of the handset can check the version of their models (whether 002 or 003) by clicking on the Settings-About Phone-Hardware Information-Hardware Version.

My Evo from day 2 is showing hardware version 003. I don’t know about the “NEW” screen thing since mine was only two days old…

This guy must not know too much about LCD screens… Brighter is not better, it looks good at first, but WILL burn out quicker. The second gen of screens for these phones are better calibrated for truer colors, and longevity. He even admitted to the whites looking pink-ish and the grays looking purple, that doesn’t sound right to me… White should be white, and gray should be gray. Unless I failed kindergarten…?
