HTC Evo Reviews!

by HTC Evo 4G on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

HTC Evo is the first-ever, one-of-a-kind smartphone that will bring us to a new era of smartphones, 4G WiMax.

4G WiMax is a technology started out in South Korea, also dubbed as “WiBro”.  WiMax is about 10 times faster than 3G speeds and faster than most home DSL.

With the HTV Evo’s new mobile hotspot functionality, users will be able to use it to tether their computers/laptops/ipods and more, up to 8 devices.

HTC Evo is also capable of auto-switching between 3G and 4G, just in case you are in an area where 4G is not available.

HTC Evo’s 480×800 pixel LCD screen at 4.3-inches with 720P HD video support makes it probably the best smartphone you can get today.   The Evo will also be able to stream YouTube videos in full 720P HD whenever 4G is available.

HTC Evo packs a ton of great stuff like a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor (like Google’s Nexus One), an 8 mega-pixel camera AND a front 1.3 mega-pixel camera (probably for Skype).

When you are in a 4G coverage area, you should be able to make free international calls using mobile Skype, another highlight of the Evo.

The slim, sleek design of the Evo is also a highlight, letting you fit the phone in your pocket easily while the 4.3-inch screen is large enough to make virtual touch keyboards as efficient as possible.

Is HTC Evo an iPhone Killer?

Probably, we have not seen a better smartphone in our lifetime.  While Apple is stuck with an outdated AT&T network for another decade, HTC will be bypassing with lightening speeds on Sprint’s 4G WiMax network while Google keeps improving their Android mobile operating system.

As for Apple, they are now facing competition from not just one company but Sprint, HTC, and Google combined, hence this HTC Evo might be the phone that will actually kill the iPhone for good.

According to Gizmodo:

Let’s just say it: HTC’s Evo 4G is the best Android phone out there. It may even be the best phone, period. Its combination of speed, size, and power mean that everyone else is officially playing catch-up.

That says a lot.

One of the coolest features about the new HTC Evo 4G phone is not that it comes with 2 cameras but a built-in stand that allows you to easily view videos as a full media player.  With 720P HD playing capability, the HTC Evo 4G will definitely be a great desktop viewing device with its whopping 4.3-inch screen.

According to Engadget, the HTC Evo 4G will be available sometime this summer:

Our biggest questions at this point are availability and pricing. Sprint is keeping mum, just stating a “Summer” availability, and interestingly clarified that not only is it not announcing device pricing, but it’s not announcing plan pricing yet either — sounds like a 4G-on-a-phone surcharge could be somewhere in our future.

Our mouths are watering already, it’s going to be exciting how Sprint/HTC/Google’s teamwork of the new phone will play out, especially the likes of Apple iPhones. But one thing for sure as it stands, the HTC Evo 4G is a lot more than an iPhone with 720P HD capability and 4G WiMax speeds.

Of course, we have to point out that 4G will only be available in select cities, you will want to check out Sprint’s Press Release here to see if 4G will be coming to your city soon:
