HTC Evo 4G Launch Day and Waiting in Line!
(Here’s the line at my local Sprint Store, I was #29!)
Last night, I had a “dream” of myself getting the new HTC Evo 4G phone. Well, in my dream, I got up late at 10AM, missing the boat and Sprint Store ran out of HTC Evo phones.
Luckily, that’s when I really woke up, it was still 7AM.
By the time I got to my local Sprint Store, it was about 7:30AM, there were about 30 people there.
The people in front of me were there at 3:30AM!!!
Once the doors opened at 8AM, it took at least 20 minutes per customer to get through.
By the time I finally entered the doors, it was 9:20AM and I found out why the line was going so slow.
People from all over the country were getting their HTC Evo 4G phones early, especially those who got a head start in the East and Mid-West.
Well, because so many people were buying HTC Evo 4G phones this morning, Sprint’s system kept lagging like crazy. The Sprint employee was telling me how their website was taking like 30 seconds per click.
Who’s buying HTC Evo 4G
Because I waited in line for such a long time, I had the pleasure of what kind of people were buying HTC Evo 4G. Most of them were Sprint customers with old, outdated phones who wanted to upgrade to HTC Evo 4G. I would say the demographics were mostly men in their 20s and 30s.
It’s interesting that these people who have crappy phones are the ones who want the HTC Evo 4G phones, not early adaptors like myself who has a bunch of smartphones already.
(I got my number 29, 29th to get the HTC Evo phone! What a ripoff for HTC Evo Accessories, check out our HTC Evo Accessories page for better deals.)
Yes! I am inside the store and finally getting my HTC Evo 4G baby! This was one of the best days that I had to wait over an hour to get my new phone!
By the time I had purchased and gotten out of the store, there was a “bigger” line, mounting for the rest of the day.
And yes, if you didn’t get to the store before 12PM, you probably didn’t get a phone today as the Sprint rep told me they only had about 100 HTC Evo 4G phones.
Remember, I was #29, that’s at least 29 HTC Evo 4G phones and a lot of them were getting 2 phones, meaning by the time I left the store, they probably already sold about 50.
Anyways, I came back home, I’ve already rooted my phone, hacking it, WHOOHOO!
First impressions?
I LOVE the size of the big 4.3-inch screen, bright and clear, YouTube can be seen in HQ quality, 4G is still not in my area but Sprint 3G is SUPER FAST, well I will have more updates soon!

I got the EVO Friday at Radio Shack. The store was crowded and activation delays due to “system overload” were making it a multi-hour deal to get the EVO. The staore had 11 pre-orders(inc. me) and got @ 4o units, which were gone by lunch. Ive had an iphone since the beginning and while im no technoid this device(which seems like a mini i-pad with a phone simply CRUSHES the iphone. The first two things to grab you is the screen is HUGE and CLEARER and EVERYTHING is SOOO MUCH FASTER(this is without 4g which wont be here(NYC) till Q4.
(not to mention ATT’s network in NYC stinks. Ive made calls fron numerous”dont even think about it” locations on Sprints network. Go Dan Hesse
