HTC Ditching AMOLED for Super TFT LCD Displays

by brian on Friday, June 25th, 2010

It seems that HTC is having some problems as far as supplying sufficient AMOLED displays for their various handsets. And if they fail to resolve the situation, we may just see phones like the Google Nexus One and the HTC Desire sporting a Super TFT LCD instead.

Apparently the demand for these displays have risen to outrageous numbers. Samsung also makes use of them and considering that they have to address 10 to 15 million units to be sold for the latter half of the year, you can imagine how both companies would need these displays to sell their mobile handsets.

With changes in the display, would the price differ as well? Well as soon as we see them out using these new screens, then we would know. But I wouldn’t be surprised if adjustments were not made.

I don’t think it matters, I’ve tested both AMOLED and Super TFT, they look same to the naked eye but AMOLED uses less battery I think.
